A short but beautifully formed message from Mark

It did feel slow! Brilliantly put!

Dear Dom

Thank you for the email and I am sorry for Mondays delay to our 08:06 service from Oxford to Paddington.

This was caused when a train, which had left the depot late, ran ahead of the 08:06, holding it up. This is why it felt so slow, and I know how frustrating this must have been.

I hope you will accept my apologies.

Kind regards

Mark Hopwood
Managing Director

  1. But what were the reasons for the late departure of the train ahead of the 8.06? And why was it allowed to run ahead? What were the causes of the cause of the delay? This is descriptive. One must be analytical when undertaking such investigations otherwise the problem will occur again. Did someone turn up for work late? Were you understaffed? If so, why? Was it a bad judgment call by whoever allowed the train to go ahead of the 8.06? Do FGW's operating procedures need to be updated?
